I got into cake making as a hobby, I started doing it for the children and as a different relaxation. I've always enjoyed flowers. I've enjoyed flower arranging and I've enjoyed baking, so I put my two loves together. People always think that's a bit odd, that I find such an intricate thing relaxing, but it is relaxing because you have to completely cut off from whatever else you think about.
I was diagnosed with severe gum disease and ultimately my teeth were going to fall out, so I was desperate to find a permanent solution to this. When you've had dental disease for a long period, you forget how you can live without your mouth dominating your life. It was always there. It was always something that was a nuisance, a nuisance to my life.
When I'm doing my cake icing, if you've got a lot of pain and discomfort, it affects the way that you can concentrate. When you’re cake icing you need to have a lot of concentration on what you're doing because it's intricate work. I was referred by my dentist, Simon Quelch of Cuckfield Dental Practice. He recommended that I see The Implant Center for an assessment.
The whole care thing from The Implant Center was unbelievably good, and I just think that you can't you can't put a price on that. It certainly improved my self-confidence in having had these teeth done, because now they're not just nagging at me whilst I'm doing things and dominating my thoughts.
