John’s Patient Story: Multiple-Tooth Implant Treatment

When I was young, I had an issue getting out of a swimming pool. I broke my teeth, and I had to have the teeth at the front filed down and caps put on. As life went on, a group at school wanted to play musical instruments. We went from learning together right through to playing in competitions. In the youth section, we played in the Albert Hall a couple of times.
We played all over the place in competitions and we got up to the same sort of standards as Brighouse and Grantsville, but we could never live with them, they were superb. It was the camaraderie of all growing up together and playing together.
I had a denture put in which incorporated the front 2 or 3 teeth, and then in later life, the teeth deteriorated even more. It got to a stage where the one tooth anchoring the rest decided to give up the ghost, which also broke. This left me in a dilemma, what do I do? I tried using lots more adhesive, to glue the top layer in, but with the pressure that the mouthpiece puts on the top teeth, that only lasted about half an hour, 45 minutes maybe maximum.
It's just an awful time, to be honest. You don't want to disappoint people, so it's not worth doing. But, when you have something that you love doing you've got to do something about it. So, what are the options I had? Pack in playing? Which I didn’t want or do something about it. The dentist recommended that I go to The Implant Centre in Hove.
I saw Guy, and Guy was superb. He puts you at ease, gets you relaxed, and then explains exactly what will happen. It's a longish process, but it's a process worth doing. All the staff at The Implant Centre put you at ease. You know, if you've got fears or any worries about anything at all, then they'll answer any questions you've got and then make it worthwhile to do it.
The worries of playing in a concert and not hitting the notes are now gone. The worries of playing in a concert and not being able to get a note out after you've stopped to reset your teeth are now gone. I got peace of mind for what they're doing for me. It's giving me my social life back, which is. Which is great. Really
